Fine Tune Motor Skills of a Preschooler
Coloring, playing with Play-Doh and cutting out shapes aren't just crafty ways to pass the time in a play school. These action-oriented tasks also help children hone the ever-so-important fine motor skills. Why are Fine Motor Skills important? They help children develop their hand muscles that are necessary for the proper grip of a pencil (or fork), writing legibly and cutting with precision.
Practice these skills at home as well. Then ask your child to write his name. You can practice this by teaching letters, then practicing writing your child's name in something they could touch, like sand, shaving cream, or using Play-Doh to make the letters. Check it out and see the results for yourself. Your kids will have loads of fun too!!

Golden Simple Thoughts #10
"While we try to teach our Children all about life, our Children teach us what life is all about." - Angel Schwindt
Isn't it better we listen to our children more often than we do now! That is to listen between the words they speak, and try and understand the thoughts behind their action or non-action!

English Teachers - Don't Miss This New Book!
How often have we heard professionals say that something ‘sounds good in theory, but not in practice’?
With the book ‘Innovations in pre-service education and training for English language teachers’, the editors, Julian Edge and Steve Mann, have tried to turn that around.
“Often, people have this idea that the there is a theory that needs to be applied. We have heard teachers say that this sounds good in theory but may not work in a classroom. What we are essentially saying is that what is not good in practice is not good in theory as well,” Mr. Edge explained.
This British Council publication is a compendium on best practices from around the world for teacher educators handling trainee English-language teachers. The book documents practices that have already been implemented. It has a collection of 14 papers sharing diverse experiences from countries such as Mexico and China.
We are happy to recommend this book to all teachers, especially English Language teachers.

What is tastier than a Birthday Cake?
A wise teacher named Erin Kurt happened to have the insight to ask her students what they most liked their parents to do with them. She asked this same question every year for 16 years and here is one of the answers she got from them...
What can be tastier than a Birthday Cake? What can be more fulfilling than winning a prize in a contest? What could be more exciting than performing in the school auditorium and getting applause? It is YOU... and your presence. For a kid, nothing is complete without his or her dad or mom. Be there! Always!!

Tunnel of Love, Klevan,
Ukraine
This
gorgeous long, leafy tunnel looks like a green dream, or a scene from a film -
but it can actually be found deep in the forests of Ukraine. Located near the
town of Klevan, this luscious green
tunnel provides passage for a private train that provides wood to a local
factory. Measuring 1.8 miles long, the unusual rail route in Eastern Europe is
also a popular spot for lover’s promises. In addition to serving as a train
route, the tunnel is used by lovers to make a wish - it is said that if they
are sincere in their love, their wishes will come true.

"We worry about what a child will become tomorrow, yet we forget that he is someone today." ~ Stacia Tauscher
As Oogway says in Kungfu Panda, "There is a saying: yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the "present." Let our children enjoy the gift everyday!

How to make dinner discussions more interesting to your child?
A wise teacher named Erin Kurt happened to have the insight to ask her students what they most liked their parents to do with them. She asked this same question every year for 16 years and here is one of the answers she got from them...
At dinner talk about what you and family could do together on a coming weekend. Your child will look forward to having dinner and listening to your vivid weekend plans. On a gentle note, do keep up with your plans and schedules.
