How often have we heard professionals say that something ‘sounds good in theory, but not in practice’?
With the book ‘Innovations in pre-service education and training for English language teachers’, the editors, Julian Edge and Steve Mann, have tried to turn that around.
“Often, people have this idea that the there is a theory that needs to be applied. We have heard teachers say that this sounds good in theory but may not work in a classroom. What we are essentially saying is that what is not good in practice is not good in theory as well,” Mr. Edge explained.
This British Council publication is a compendium on best practices from around the world for teacher educators handling trainee English-language teachers. The book documents practices that have already been implemented. It has a collection of 14 papers sharing diverse experiences from countries such as Mexico and China.
We are happy to recommend this book to all teachers, especially English Language teachers.
